Camper Rental in Australia - Frequently Asked Questions

Campers Oz has been in the the hire campervan and motorhome rental field for many years and right aroundcamper and hire campervan rental image  Australia and we get asked many questions by customers and people making enquiries. So we thought we would just list some of the more common questions here with the answers.

Q. Can we do a One Way rental only?

A. A One Way rental simply means you want to pick up your hire campervan in one city (eg: Sydney) and leave it, at the end of your rental period, in another city (eg: Cairns) The answer is Yes. Most companies now happily allow One Way Rentals though nearly all camper, hire campervan rental companies will charge a fee for the One Way Service. This fee can range from $150.00 to $500.00 depending upon how far you want to travel.

Q. Does the vehicle have a fridge?

A.Nearly all our vehicles have a fridge and these fridges work on “Dual Voltage” – in some cases Dual Voltage and LPgas. The Dual voltage means that the fridge will run on 12 Volt DC power or 240 Volt AC power. The only vehicles that do not have a fridge are the Campa Cars. They have an “Esky” a plastic moulded bin with a lid in which you use Ice to keep your perishable foods preserved over time.

Q. What is the Security Bond/Excess?

A. This amount – which varies from vehicle to vehicle - is the amount of money you will be liable for in the event you are involved in a two or more vehicle accident. If you were in an accident with another car and the total damage done to the hire campervan you are renting is over the amount of your Security Bond/Excess you would only be liable for the the amount of your Security Bond/Excess. If the damage to your hire campervan was only a few hundred dollars then that should be all you have to pay and this amount would be deducted from your Security Bond/Excess and you would be paid the balance.

Q. What if am involved in an accident but it is not my fault?

A. The usual practice with most companies is that they would hold onto your Security Bond/Excess until the other car/driver’s insurance company has paid for the damage. Then they would refund you the whole amount of your Security Bond/Excess – though this may take some weeks.

Q. What is the standard equipment supplied with a camper, campervan or motorhome?

A. This is a curly question! It does vary from company to company so you really should ask the company you are planning to rent your vehicle with. At Campers Oz all our Campers, hire campervans and Motorhomes come with Fridge, Linen, pillows, crockery and cutlery (for the number of people travelling), Cookware and cooking utensils and at least one tea towel and one outdoor camp chair for each person. Fire Extinguisher, vehicle tool kit (for tyre changing). Extras can include Microwave oven, TV, DVD players and a second AC powered Air Conditioner. Our larger motorhomes have Toilet and shower compartments.

Our Campa Car does not have a fridge or pillows, but does have a  3-4 person tent.
