Opening in mid 2012 is our new camping facility which offers visitors wonderful camping sites right on the banks of the Palmer River (see photo above). In addition you can take your own Gold Prospecting gear (Gold Pans, Gold Sieves and Detectors only) - or hire it from us - and go prospecting for that elusive Yellow metal.
Any Gold you find is yours to take with you.
Palmer Gold is located just 4 kilometres from the historic ruins of the Palmer River Goldrush days of the 1870's.
Located approximately 200 kilometres North west of Cairns we believe that Palmer Gold is the only gold mining lease in Australia where you are welcome to come search for that elusive yellow metal. Camp in genuine outback Australia under the stars of the Southern Cross and spend some time really getting to know the fabulous and some times infamous history of the Palmer Goldrush days.
Just imagine sitting around the campfire at dusk and carefully planning your next days prospecting, or just lazing around by the river. The river waters are very safe - no bities here!!
The property totals 38 hectares with over 12,000 square metres of Camping divided into 3 camp areas.
